Travelling to Hong Kong

Has anyone travelled to Hong Kong using a RTD? I assume a visa is needed?

Yes you do need a visa. I go there every six month and my entries are always pretty smooth.

I assume of course that you are not a Chinese national. If you are a Chinese national, I am not sure if they would honor your RTD (or if the USCIS would have a problem with your going there).

chinese

Hampton844: thanks for your response. A friend of mine will be travelling with me however. He's also an asylee: a Chinese though (by race; but his nationality/country of persecution is Indonesia). I assume he's ok?

Because Indonesia is the persecutor, of course it would be OK.

what Docs is needed?

What documents should we bring when applying for HongKong Visa? and how long does the Visa usually last? Thanxs for ur help!

Question for hampton884

I believe you have to go in person to request a hong kong visa from a chinese consulate right? If so, how long does it normally take? Please let us know. Thanks.

Is anybody traveled to Japan with RTD???
If yes,What documents should we bring when applying for a Visa? and how long does the Visa usually take? For a business trip.

90 days

They will give you 90 days visa. They do accept RTD and you'll need an invitation letter from the company you are going to visit. If you'll tell them that it is a pleasure trip then you'll need to show your bank statement to show them that you can afford it.
Hope it helps.

Thanks,I will do that.
About my bank account, the trip will be sponsered by my company b/c it is a business trip and I will take them a letter from the company.

Thanks a lot again

Got my Hong Kong transit visa today. Only took 4 business days if request at Chinese Consulate. I was granted 2 entries, each valid for 7 days. I submitted my bank statement, letter from employer, copy of airline ticket and hotel reservation. Not sure all of them are needed, but it was a smooth process

Yes, you do need a visa for England. They easily granted my applications. I actually joked with the visa officer that in light of the close US-UK relationship, I should get visa-free admission to England.

I am planning to go Hongkong & China this summer. I know i should go to the Chinese consulate to apply for chinese visa what about HongKong Visa?

Can anyone help me?
Thanxs

You can get your Hong Kong visa at the local Chinese consulate. Processing time takes 3 - 4 business days. Be sure to apply for a double entry visa. Only costs $30. Print out the application form from the Hong Kong immigration website. Bring proof of employment, recent bank statement, hotel reservations (if any). If you have a green card, they most likely do not care about other documents. But to be on the safe side, just bring them along.
