Any issues leaving the U.S. after B1/B2 visa expiration?

My sister is a Chinese passport holder currently in China with a valid U.S. B1/B2 visa that expires on July 6, 2026.

If she enters the U.S. in March to visit me and stays slightly over five months, she would depart the U.S. in September, after the visa expiration date. Would this cause any issues at U.S. entry, or result in any unfavorable record when she leaves the U.S.?

Expiration date on the visa does not determine how long your sister can stay in the US. How long she can stay will be determined at POE, this will be reflected on the I-94 she gets issued with at that point.

Thanks for the response. I understand that the length of stay is determined by CBP at the port of entry and reflected on the I-94. My question is different: if she departs the U.S. after the visa expiration date (but still within the authorized I-94 stay), would that cause any issues or negative record?

No. There is no problem staying or leaving after the visa expiration. The visa has no relevance to her stay inside the US.

One more related question: her EVUS enrollment also expires in July 2026. This will not affect her ability to enter or depart the U.S., correct?
