A stamped I-94 is an extremely important document that you should make sure to have at hand. With that, you can get an unrestricted SSN and change that limited-term driving license that often gives away that one is not in a permanent immigration status such as LPR or USC.
How do i get it?

USCIS shows the current processing time for asylum-based I-485 as 20 months, but it looks like this timeline keeps increasing and could eventually reach 2 to 3 years. At what point would someone be eligible to file a mandamus? Do we have to wait until the case goes past the posted processing time, or is there any option if USCIS continues to delay?

I-131 (TRAVEL DOCS) also jumped to 15.5 months, these are interesting times, lets keep our sanity cos nobody can convince me this isnt some deliberate punitive stance, i mean if u ban 19 countries, stop asylum adjudications, claim nobody is at the border anymore, increase fees, shouldnt we see a corresponding decrease in turn around time? Just plain wicked !!!

I believe it really depends on your lawyer and the strength of evidence you have for the delay to show to the court

I was wondering the same, how soon can a mandamus even be filed right now?! Also, I’m not sure whether reaching out to a congressperson/senator would be helpful, given the current situation

I filed in Aug 2023 now its 28 months. When i try to submit a case inquiry it says i can only do that after December 23. Strange but they dont care.

It looks like your case has been stuck beyond normal processing times, and the system is blocking an inquiry until a specific date—likely based on standard processing time plus a buffer. Sorry about your situation, You really need to find some other options to make them work on your case.

Do we need to wait 20 months of normal processing time or can file early?
When I filed mine (October 20th), the timeline was 16.5 months and I was already passed the timeline at that time (I am still within the 60 days and haven’t heard anything back). I would again advise you to talk to a lawyer
