Great, your friend is really lucky. Just to double-check, are you sure the I-485 was filed in 2025 and not 2024?

Any advice on mandamus I filed it a week ago any timeline ? What to expect next and when to expect an update or something please help thank you

did you hear back from them? i am also from one of 19 countries, and I was not sure if should do it now or wait?
I talked with my lawyer today. Actually today was the 60th day after filing the mandamus which they had to respond, but we haven’t heard anything back so far. I also passed the 20 months timeline.
My lawyer got in touch with the court and they told her because of the slow down due to the government shutdown and holidays, it’s not unusual for uscis lawyers to respond late. We are expecting to receive a motion for extension after holidays otherwise we have the option to file for motion to compel.

I don't want to disappoint you. I know someone who applied three months ago and hasn't received a response yet. The reason is the same as what you wrote.

That can happen. I also know someone filled in Texas and the uscis asked for motion to extension for 90 days, but the judge didn’t accept that and scheduled a hearing in 60 days. Actually if you don’t hear anything back it’s on your favor and you have to file for motion to compel.

This also can happen when there is no attorney from uscis to get assigned to your case like what happened during government shutdown.

I don’t really know that and I believe this is a very technical question. What my lawyer told me was that the court said “this can happen these days” and they advised her to wait! She told me we will get in touch with court on January 15th (approximately 3 weeks after the 60 days for me) and decide on the next steps
