Waiting Asylum decision

I asked my attorney and he advised to just wait. With the current immigration climate, I will just wait and not push anything

I already made 2 inquiry about my case and the first response I received was a letter saying that my case is still under review and i just have to wait If you don’t mind me asking where was your interview office ? Mine was in Saint Paul MN

Yes mine too was in field office in Minnesota

I have been waiting for 7 months and 10 days for my asylum decision I already made two inquiries the most recent one just last week but I still haven’t received any update from the Chicago asylum office The long wait is very difficult and I am wondering if others are facing the same delays

I remember one of the older members here once said that the Chicago asylum office was the fastest when it came to giving decisions But from what I see now it looks like the Chicago office is actually one of the slowest in making decisions.

Did you notice if your case status online showed Application is Pending before it changed to Decision is Pending ? And do you remember when your last update/change was ?

Mine changed to decision pending right after the interview, then changed to application pending after 2 weeks. It has been that way since

I was told go back to pick up decision after two weeks but 1 day before the pick up day AO called me said result is not ready. the result will be shipped to my address once ready. I know the feeling when you are waiting the result, it's hard! I googled a lots of threads.

If results cannot be obtained within two weeks, most people will need to wait 2 to 8 months. It depends on each case and cannot be predicted precisely.

only one person in this thread waited 1 year then file FOIA. The FOIA shows AO Made decision after about two weeks but no one to shipped it out. This situation is very rare.

in the end, I do not think email or call can expedite to get the result.

I believe that several people here waited for a year but I agree it's atypical.
I waited for 14 months and got approval couple months ago.

I think that everyone should make FOIA request to USCIS after the interview.
It's the easiest way to get transcript record of your interview.
You never know when you'll need it in the future.

It's stands for Freedom Of Information Act.
You can request your whole file from USCIS through this Act.
USCIS will send you scanned PDFs for all documents that they received and processed for your A#.
Some pages will be redacted, some pages will be omitted due to privacy issues/etc.
However, you get interview transcript and some people find asylum officer's preliminary decision there. (my file didn't have it so I assume it was omitted).

It was me. Still no decision yet (1.5 years post-interview).

In my case, the officer drafted a referral assessment two weeks after the interview. But 2 days after he drafted the assessment, a new officer was assigned to my case. (no more info).

Last follow-up through the congressman revealed my case is in the background check.

My time line as below.
June 16th 2024 - asylum application submitted
Mid of July 2024 - Biometric done.
Sep 6th 2024 - interview done After that status - decision pending
Dec 20th - status changed to application is pending.

Dec 2nd 2024. - I submitted I 765
Dec 15th 2024 - EAD approved
Dec 19th - Card was produced
Today I received my EAD card - 5 years work authorization.

1st Aug I contacted but getting generic answers getting. On 20th Aug Congrassman submitted inquiry on behalf of me. And 22nd Aug my status changed from application to decision pending.
