List every place you lived during the last 5 years?

Hi All

Since being in the USA since 12.1.2008 I've lived one year in Florida and the next three years traveled all over the USA.

For example I rented holiday homes and lived one month in Santa Barbara, one month in San Diego, then 4 months in Los Angeles, then traveled around the USA for 3 months staying in hotels. Three years passed just like that, moving around discovering the USA. I also traveled overseas during that time - quite a lot. I own a home in the UK so used that from time to time while visiting family. I have never worked outside of the USA since obtaining my green card. For the past year I've been in LA renting a home.

Do I need to list every hotel and holiday home I rented all over the globe? It's going to be hard to track back.

Thanks

Did you rent or lease a house/apartment while staying in those hotels? Or were those hotels your only US residence at the time?

I doubt the OP had a stable residence in one place (like the one in Florida). It'd cost a lot to have that AND to travel/work.

Do you work at all these places, or do you work from home so you have the flexibility to travel? If it's the first, and it's legal work (not, for example, construction work under the table), then you ought to list your residences wherever you worked at least (so that work and residence match). If it's the latter, then I'd think you can just say you lived in Florida until the time you officially got your place in LA.

Yes, I would list holiday homes because they were your homes. As for the hotels, I am not sure. I would list wherever it is you were getting mail at that point. There is no reason to lie about this as I dont think it can disqualify you from citizenship. I say list it all. I am sure your hotel points statements will have a log of everything

Hi Jackolantern, didn't lease a house/apartment. Was staying in either holiday home rentals or hotels, depending on what was available.

Hi cafeconleche, didn't work, sold my business back in the old country and that let me live the lifestyle described. I would have been cheaper renting but didn't want to leave a rental property vacant for several months. Owners never like that.

How did you make money?

Sold a business in my country of birth, didn't need to work. After 25 years and only a few very short breaks running my own business, I really enjoyed seeing the USA and enjoy the rewards of selling the business I'd built.

I think for you this part is the mst important:

In addition, applicants are required to show they have resided for at least three months immediately preceding the filing of Form N-400 in the USCIS district or state where the applicant claims to have residency (See 8 CFR §316.2(a)(5) & §319.1(a)(5)).
