Green card after asylum

Hello guys!

The question is about applying for a green card after asylum.
I was granted an asylum in 2012 and first entered US on December 20 2012. After getting SSN and drivers license I have got a travel document and
left in February 2013. After that i several times reentered United states for couple of weeks.
So, am I eligible to apply for GC in December 2013, does the time I spent outside of states traveling count as being present ? Or I have to come back and stay for another year without leaving US to get a GC ?

You must wait a year+ the time you were gone. In my case, when I traveled with my RTD I spent 3 weeks out of the country. So I applied for my GC a year and 3 weeks later. i had not problem whatsoever. See my timeline?

According to your timeline it took you almost 3 months to give the fingerprints, I managed to do that after 2 weeks I applied for RTD :) So in my case it comes out I have to wait for half a year after I reenter US to apply for a GC.

No, it didn't. If you read carefully, you will see that I got my fingerprints in 31 days and granted 3 months and 22 later.

Hi I have the question about Green card.

File Asylum application 8/27/10
Interview was late as my lawyer went on vacation and request for another date.
Interview for asylum 5/11/2011
Asylum decision approval 8/17/2011
Work permit received 8/23/2011
Apply for green card 2/19/2013
Received notice of reception of I-485 2/28/2013
Biometric done: 4/11/2013

Waiting for Green card,
My work permit is goin to expire so I have also applied for this. Can you please advise me how long will it take to receive GC as my work permit is expiring.....

You don't need a work permit if your asylum is approved. All you need is an unrestricted social security number and a Govt or state issued ID for employment.
 
Thank you for your reply. Last month, I called the USCIS and ask about my case, they told me that they are working on case received on 1/15/2013 today, I called then again after 3 weeks and they gave me the same answer!!! now my case is 5 and a half month since they received. I have to apply for a training job and that requires to have green card. what should I do besides waiting?
