Interview scheduling and NL2 confusions

Hi,

I'm very confused about the NL2 and interview scheduling, with a CN of 3XXX which is very low I'll be scheduled for October interview probably while I won't be able to travel before final exams on 6-2014 so my interview must be pushed forward to January at least so I can travel by time within the 6-month visa period, what are your suggestions? should I delay sending the forms to NVC and enjoy the risk of not receiving the NL2 at all or should I send the forms now and when the interview is scheduled maybe I can contact the embassy and ask them to delay the interview for me, I heard this possible but don't know how much time can I push the interview forward to? BTW I'll deal with US Embassy in Cairo.

Thanks in advance

NEVER EVER try to send the forms late to KCC, it would hurt you badly if in case your case is put under Administrative Processing. My suggestion for you would be to send the forms to KCC, have your interview on time. And when you get the visa, go to US, get your green card, and come back for your examination in June 2014. Best of luck!

Thanks for your reply, however considering travelling through the academic year and waiting for at least a month to receive GC and SSN then coming back will waste a lot of classes and money.

You can ask to reschedule the interview when you get a date. Of course, you'd be taking a risk that they'll reschedule you so far that you may not get a visa number at all. So assess the risk you're willing to take: take the October interview, go to the US and come back to finish school (which costs money), go to the US, transfer credits and finish school there, or reschedule your interview and risk not getting a new date in time or not getting a visa in time if put in AP. There's no other alternative.

What if they reschedule you for November? Are you going to ask for another extension? It will look like you don't really care about immigrating.

Personally, I'd spend the money and go to the US. I'm assuming that October is still towards the beginning of the academic year in Egypt, so I wouldn't care about exams and such. I'd go to college in the US after getting the green card and transfer my credits from Egypt and finish school there. In fact, that will really help you when looking for jobs in the US (having a US degree).

I don't see the point in taking unnecessary risks.

By the way, I'm assuming you're going to university, not high school. If you're still in high school, then you won't even qualify for the visa.

Go ahead and send your forms to KCC once you've correctly filled and gone over them to make sure there are no errors. Once you get your 2NL regarding your interview, you can contact the emabssy to reschedule the interview date to something you consider more convenient. However, just like Gabam said, be aware of the possibilty of being put in AP and not having time for the AP to run it's course before the fiscal year runs out. This is not to say that you will get put in AP if you reschedule your interview appointment, don't get me wrong.

Alsoo, do note that you do not have to wait in the US to receive the physical GC and SSN, provided you have people you can trust to receive and safely keep these documents for you till your next visit to the US.
