Hello fellow members:

I am on F1, and just got married two months ago to a USC. I would like to know how long is adequate to wait before filing for AOS.

Thank you.

The next day is fine if you have documents showing a bona fide marriage. You know the drill, joint bank statements, joint insurance, joint property ownership, etc.

Good luck!

How long ago was your last entry to the US? That's more important than how long ago you got married.

@ Jackolantern. My last entry was at the first week of August 2010.

@Ananga73. Thank you. I already have joint bank account, Apt lease, property insurance, Auto insurance, light bill, internet bill, travel tickets. Do you think these are enough documents to proof a legitimate marriage?

You're good. Your last entry was long ago enough that you cannot be charged with "prior intent". Also I think you have more than enough documents.

Thank you very much. Please, do you know how many days USCIS would be closed for work during the xmas and newyear period?

Did you actually attend schools? Are you still a student? Did you fall out of status at any time? USCIS will look at these factors and can easily check it in SEVIS.

This is my first post in which I had to enter a verification! It was pleasant surprise!

I have been attending school since my last entry, and have been maintaining my status since then. I will be finishing school next spring. I equally don't understand why its requesting for verification in my post..

SPAM be damned!

The verification is BLOCKING SPAM! Be happy about it! Click on What's New? and see what happens---REAL posts instead of 300 posts trying to get you buy knock-off sub-standards phony prescriptions for everything from Viagra to acne medicine.

It was a good idea to install the Captcha image verification deter spammers. However it's a useless annoyance for established users, and I hope they will drop it for users who have met certain longevity criteria.

If somebody has been around for 1 or 2 months and has made a 10 or 12 posts, they're almost surely not a spammer, so don't annoy them with the Captcha. Very few spammers have the awareness and patience to stick around for that long. And the spammers who have the determination to make that number of posts (thereby getting past the Captcha that many times) and stick around for more than a month won't be stopped by the Captcha anyway.

Seconded!

The Image verification is blocking those computer programs that posts dozens or hundreds of useless crap.

Correct, but it's also annoying genuine users. The verification could be removed for users who have been on the forum for over a month and made a dozen posts (or 10 or 15 or 20 or some other reasonable number), without the spambots flooding the place with their spam.

99.9% of spambots won't be able to get past the image verification a dozen times to make a dozen posts and then wait for a month. The other 0.1% won't be stopped by image verification anyway if they've managed to post a dozen times.
