Hi,

Can you confirm what the exact process is for sponsoring a family member (my wife)? I will need to file the i-130 and g-324a form as the LPR, but do I have to do anything else after filing these forms? Will I need to get my fingerprints taken, or is it just my wife? Do I get interview, or just my wife?
 
My wife is outside of America, she was here on a F1 visa but returned back to her native country once she had completed her studies.

At this point, YOU file an I-130 with evidence according to the directions. You indicated that you are a greencard holder, this will be in category F2A on the visa bulletin and could take 3 years for a visa to become available (it changes monthly). You can sign up for monthly e-mail notification.

IF you naturalize before then, you can UPGRADE it to IR (Immediate Relative of a USC) and speed it up.

As an LPR or USC, the NVC will contact you for the I-864 (financial evidence and fees). AFTER that the NVC send the paperwork abroad and the Consulate makes contact for the visa application processing. She will have to file an application, schedule and appointment, get a medical exam and police clearance and other docuemnts as requested.
