Too late to apply for OCI (NY consulate) if I plan to travel in I week of June?

Sorry, I'm posting this again to hear from more folks (already posted in NY tracker).

We have plans to go to India in the first week of June. If we apply for OCI along with SC now (New York Consulate), would we be able to get the OCI before June? Or is it too risky?

If risky, should we apply for Tourist Visa or Entry Visa? Which one is faster? Looks like Tourist Visa ($60) is cheaper than Entry Visa ($100).

In any of these cases. do you think we should apply for SC separately and then for OCI or Visa?

Appreciate if you could provide pointers. Thanks.

apply for SC and Entry visa and it may take 10-15 days through Travisa. OCI may take longer.

I am a Houston-based person. So, I wouldn't be able to advise you on processing in NY. However, things are backed up at the Houston consulate to the extreme. They are stating openly that OCI processing will need 180 days (which means, in reality, it might very well take much longer).

So, in your condition, I would certainly apply for a SC and a visa (together).

Personally, I do not have much knowledge between the relative merits of the Entry and the Tourist visa. Also, the CGI keeps changing the requirement for these. Hopefully, some one with more knowledge in this matter will chime in.
