My EAD expires in Mar 2011 and i have applied for renewal this month. My husband had L1 visa. I travelled to India in september 2010 and came back with a fresh dependent L2 visa. I want to know if the EAD is still valid till March 2011, because on the EAD Card it says NOT VALID FOR RE-ENTRY to the US. What does this mean?
I want to know if i can work with the EAD i have valid till March 2011

An EAD is merely work authorization it is not a visa or a travel document. The work authorization remains valid and can be renewed to coincide with your new L-2 validity when the time comes to renew.

Do you mean that my EAD should be vaild for my case mentioned above. Am not clear about the second half of the last sentence of your reply.

Family of L-1 Workers
The transferring employee may be accompanied or followed by his or her spouse and unmarried children who are under 21 years of age. Such family members may seek admission in L-2 nonimmigrant classification and, if approved, generally will be granted the same period of stay as the employee. If these family members are already in the United States and seeking change of status to or extension of stay in L-2 classification, they may apply collectively, with fee, on Form I-539. Spouses of L-1 workers may apply for work authorization by filing Form I-765 with fee. If approved, there is no specific restriction as to where the L-2 spouse may work.

You already had an EAD based on L-2 status and are continuing in L-2 status, therefore, your work authorization is still valid. Taking a trip abroad and renewing the same visa category does not change your work authorization.

That annotation is just to make sure that everybody knows that the EAD is not a travel document, not to be confused with a greencard.

For instance, showing an EAD when crossing the U.S.-Canadian or Mexixan border is not enough, you still have to show your L-2 visa and passport.
