Need Retrogression Advice!

Hello! I'm new to this site, and needed some questions answered.

I filed my I-485 and I-765 in November 2010. I got an rfe in december that I just responded to today (1/19/11). My priority date was January 2005, and when we filed in November it was current (June 2005). I just heard about the retrogression and checked the priority date and it is now April 2003 for F2B. How does this affect my application? Does this mean a longer wait for the greencard? Or does it help that we already filed the I-485? I am so confused!

Your green card will be delayed until after the visa bulletin moves past your priority date again. But since you filed the I-485 when your PD was current, you will be allowed to stay in the US legally while you wait.
 
You will also be allowed to renew your EAD without fee during pendency of the I-485. IF you did not build up unlawful presence, the same situation will apply to Advance Parole. You did not mention that you had filed an I-131 so, don't know if that is something you are concerned about, but it is all included in the one fee that you paid.

Post-Interview & Retrogression

My Mother-in-law (and 2 daughters) had their CP interview on their approved F4. The first time, it was denied becasue the official asked for strange docs, including baptismal records of relatives not associated with the petition. At the second interview, about a month later, everything was quick and smooth and it was approved. Offical said travel docs would arrive within a week. Big celebrating followed!
Then, the next day, my mother-in-law received a call and email stating that due to retrogression, the approval was canceled. Period.
I thought a visa number was reserved once an interview was scheduled. How can this be policy? After a CP interview approval, it is then denied??

That's what they used to say for consular interviews a few years ago. Maybe now the policy has changed.

Or a visa number was reserved for them at the first interview, and then released because of the denial. Then another visa number wasn't reserved for the 2nd interview because retrogression already kicked in before the 2nd interview.

Fortunately, F4 only jumped back by about a year, so they should be able to obtain the visas within the next year or so.
