Just received my green cad yesterday.

This maybe dumb question, but how do I travel with the green card to make sure I don't lose it? I want to visit my country with my wife for 3 weeks. Do I need to obtain visa/any documents when I fly back into the USA at the port of entry? or when I leave the USA?

I am pretty sure you just fly back, on the fly you way that you have a green card (but with your family anyway you will fill out only one form (depending on your wife's citizenship, which I guess is a USC)). And then you just walk through customs; I don't remember but I think that by being a family you will have to go through the NON citizens (since you are a whole family) just show the paper your filled out... and you are good to go

You travel with your country's passport and your green card. En route back to the US, at the ticket counter, they will ask to see both your passport and green card, because only people with appropriate visas, US passport and green cards can board planes bound for the US. Upon arrival at Customs, you will be using US citizens lines, because you are part of the US populace. All other visitors to the US will be using non-US citizens lines. To safeguard your green card, keep it inside your passport secured by a paper clip or something, to properly secure it.

You can scan a copy of the green card, back and front and keep a digital copy on your email, in case you lose it, you can present it to the US Consulate and see what they can do. Safe travels.

It would be nice because US citizens line always shorter. I have to ask around now because last time I came back with my friends(over a year). They refused my friends to use US citizens line.
