Hello Guys,
I was waiting on my oath letter, decision for that matter. I got certified mail notice in the mailbox today. I couldnt pick it up, post office was closed. Any ideas what that could be?

Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, another guy got a certified mail from USCIS and it was a denial because of physical/continuous presence. Not sure what it could be, in light of these anecdotal evidences....

There was another gentleman on here not that long ago who got certified mail from USCIS and it was his denial. The reason is because he had been out of the country for too many days. They don't send your oath letter certified. I go for my oath this Friday and my oath letter came regular mail. Sorry :(

Just go and get the mail from the Post Office, no need to be scared. It appears that based on recent experiences on this forum, certified mail from USCIS on N400 cases indicate your case was denied. USCIS want to make sure your receive the message without claiming you never got the denial in the mail. Here is what I would suggest, pick-up the mail, get home, fill your bathtub with water, bubble bath soap, light some candles and get into the tub, open the letter and if it is a denial, just soak for 1/2 a day. The bubble bath will sooth your disappointment.

You are a funny guy...LOL...getting denied..is very disappointing..trust me I been there..and had to wait 5 years and just got interview and approved today in atlanta.....But for sure it is a denial letter..they want to make sure..you get...and just in case it is a NTA...

Unfortunately I also think that certified mail means denial of the application. Hopefully it will be over a simple issue and you can reapply soon. Please keep us posted.

I've read your earlier posts and it seems the IO might have suspected marriage fraud. From some of the details you posted a reasonable person might have suspicion too. Lease only under your wife's name and perhaps other items. I hope you can go into a lifestyle that reflects more on a true bona fide marriage and then you can reapply.

Hura,

What are you referring to with regards to questionable marriage situation? I am not sure I follow your point on his case. Do you mind posting a link to his details?

I also was reading the OP's earlier posts on his 2 interview experiences with the same IO, and it sounds like he did not have a pleasant experiences. Well, hopefully, he will be back and share with us what his certified mail is all about, and hopefully, it is not a denial letter

ok folks..it is a denial letter, I collected it.

yes both interviews were the most unpleasant treatment of US government to me!! IO was a mean Brooklynite, law enforcement background as well, I could tell from his moustache. he was top of the line..he challenged IRS documents, claiming that they were not transcripts, I said yes they were and he replied no. I didnt actually give a sh.. what he said or thought. please read my earlier posts to grasp the situation..thank you.

the reason on denial letter is long story short "I failed to show marital union". it is 4 pages long listing what I showed such as joint accounts, credit cards, IRS transcripts, health insurance...list goes on...and a sentence long what I failed to show which was the lease.

the lease issue is that it is a rent-stabilized place owned by a crook in manhattan. so we didnt wanna mess with the lease no matter what in order not to give any reason to the landlord so that he has nothing to evict us in case he finds a legal gap in between somewhere. it was a personal decision on our part not to add me to the lease(this is like 3rd lease) for right reasons, not to mention the lease permits even roommates, I guess they didnt bother to read it. also they didnt bother to check GC application, and 751 application as well.. same lease in there and I m not listed.

and there is no freaking marriage fraud, if there was I would be getting NTA of some sort. they wouldnt just let me go on the street..

long story short...I failed to show marital union and denied without prejudice to future applications..I ll do 5 year rule..this application took 10 months, so 14 months from now roughly, I m eligible for 5 year-rule, nice and easy. I dont really need a passport at this point anyway. I m a USC already inside me..I ll live another maybe a year and half more as a USC without a passport.::))

you know what's the worst part..

I know people who became citizens but at the same time
they are the people who
don't pay taxes,
people can't even form an English sentence,
people even got arrested arrested multiple times "but it was a minor offense" thanks again..
people had a few fake social security numbers when they were illegal,
people beat up their wives,
people run ezpass lines without a tag cause they dont care, they are loaded of money..

the list goes on..they all became citizens..dont think I am tied to those..that's the reality..we all know it..take a look around you..you'll find your own people like that..

today I was thinking in math 201 class, "what the hell are you doing here 730 at night trying to get undergrad degree at the age of 30, and trying to run your small business at the same time"..I called myself a fool..I even took a speech class this semester because I thought I can speak better..what a fool I am!!!! All Thanks to inconsiderate, mean, thinks-doing-a-good-job-but-not-really US government employees who had hands in my application.!!!

if I was a rich filthy loaded guy I would have sued all of that federal plaza people from top floor to bottom security guards first thing in tha morning..and send a thank you letter to Bush, because he was the one spent millions of dollars to scrutinize and computerize everything we do now in terms of immigration. if it was the old days I d probably waiting on my first application receipt now. and rest of us would be sitting on our applications still taking years to process..I just checked 6 months for a GC in NYC now, forget it, it d be like 3 years if it was the old days..other than that I disapprove Bush..

I am a really pissed New Yorker right now..really pissed,,, but I know I ll keep my kool no matter what..keep kool..keep kool..kool is nice..ok I gotta calm down know..cause I am stiilll soooo piissseedddd..!!!!! I hope chineese guy around the corner will have coffee in tha morning.. he better not have coffee machine broken or sth.. or I m gonna knock the shit out of that store.. he better not.. he better not...

Good attitude, santa_vik. Your experience sounds very unfair, but you can hang in there for another 14 months. Good luck!

Be careful with yoru words. In 2 years you may be interviewed by the same nasty IO who can deby your application again by the reason that you claim to be a USC.

you cant be serious by cutting just that part of the post..I am liable for the whole thing I posted not the only part you cut and it doesnt claim anything, it expresses feelings, even US government can't interfere with that.

santa,

I hope the bubble-bath soothed you a little bit, even though you are upset. Sorry to read about your troubles. I have always maintained that NY people are mean, rude and nasty. No place but in NY do you find such people. You seem to have found an IO who enjoys kicking people in the balls and ask them to keep up straight. I think the people you alluded above as those who end up being citizens is a rather an unfair characterization of your fellow immigrants. You are already an American in your heart, which is all that matters right now..lol!!!. Yes, Bush did spend some money to improve USCIS, one of his better accomplishment I might say, which is why your denial is served on a silver platter by a mail man. In the next 14 months, don't do anything which will force you wait another 5 years like peeing in public or in the subway....lol!!! Also, hope the IO who handled your case gets fired or reassigned to be a greeter at Walmart....

I think you took it like a man...

I don't like it neither, but Bush is gonna have a legacy no matter what, a long one, a controversial one, like it or not..it is good that they can at least know what is where by spending some money..lol..

Some fellow immigrants unfortunately create some realities. Some become governors..

NY is weird yes..being mean, rude, nasty etc to others is very Goddamngiven right to every New Yorker..and we also like to talk behind out-of-towner's..how rude, and mean and retarded they are..

my mailman is nice actually he is sharp..11.26 everyday..he doesnt like the heat though.. he works better in rain all day..

Walmart wouldnt hire that IO..he better stay there and feed his family..

santa_vik,

from what I read here and other forums, i think it is a good idea for you to add yourself to the lease with your spouse anyways. Because when you apply for naturalization several months from now based on 5 yr rule, they might look at the information why your first N-400 was denied before, and since, i assume, you've obtained your perm.residency through marriage to USC, they still might want to look at evidence that marriage was entered in good faith. So, my personal advise would be not to discard your joint statements/papers, and keep collecting more (and definitely add yourself to the lease since you live there anyways). It wont hurt to have extra paperwork, than not to have enough
