Hi,
As expected, life threw a curve ball and now the engagement is in jeopardy. The interview date in Delhi embassy is Oct 7. I haven't told the embassy yet about withdrawing my petition. I can tell them in a week or two or three or not even bother and let the whole thing fizzle out. Obviously, we will try and salvage whatever we can, try and buy more time and hope things turn for the better. Here's what I was thinking: There's the principle issue about marriage and marrying the right person for the right reasons an all that, and the technical issue about the interview date.
1) I can drop the whole thing right now OR we can have the fiance go for her interview next month and get the visa stamped. She has 6 months to enter the US within which we hope we can turn things around and move on with life.
Say she comes here within those 6 months, we have another 3 months to finally get married and file the papers for AOS. OR we drop the whole thing once we have exhausted all the possibilities.
2) Suppose she gets the visa stamped and stays in India while we are working things out between the families. Can I file a petition, either a k1 or a k3 (if I have to take that step), for someone else? Is that allowed? (I'll inform the authorities about canceling the first petition obviously)
I don't want to make it sound so dry like buying chicken or beef. No, there is so much damage and hearts need a long time to heal, but I was just curious about the possibility if one can file for another one while the previous one has her visa stamped already.
Guys, any thoughts and help would be appreciated. Never expected any of this, don't like any of this drama, but what to do. There are hearts involved and emotions, and families and power struggle and pride, honor, control issues and who knows what other silly stuff. I am the most hopeful guy. There's redemption, and confession, and conversion. Man, it keeps getting interesting. May be the best thing is to stay single.
