I have a question for anyone who has gone through the same experience in the past. I signed my name on the Certification of Naturalization but did not sign a full name. For example, my new legal name is "Christopher Jacob Rowe". I signed "Chris Rowe" instead. Is it ok or not? Should I have signed on the certificate with my full name?

Thank you in advance

Not signing your middle name on certificate doesn't invalidate your certificate so you're fine the way you signed.

Yes, your signature should contain entire name but it's not a hard requirement, and missing to sign middle name doesn't make it invalid.

Thanks Bobsmyth. That is what I thought of. I as well as other candidates received a certificate right before the closing comments by Judge. We were not even asked to sign the certificate... So it is almost impossible to check my certificate...

I expect that this will not make any issue when I apply for a passport.

As a rule of thumb most people sign the certificate the same way the photo was signed. However, I've never heard of a certificate being invalidated for having signed it in a different way. Of course if the certificate is signed by a different person that will probably invalidate it.

My regular signature is my first name initial and my whole last name and I intend to apply for the passport like this. Is it necessary for me to sign the Nat Cert with my full first and last name in the cursive script or can I just use my regular signature? I didn't think it made a difference.

Try to sign your entire full and last name on naturalization certificate. Your regular signature on passport is fine.

I used my regular signature on nat photo, nat cert, and passport. Someone would be hard pressed to say it does or not contain my full name, it's hard to decode. :)

No worries. There a big difference between how one should and must sign certificate. You're fine.

Don't worry. I think there was a memo some time back to ask people to sign their regular signature. Some IOs have got the memo and some not. There is a whole gamut of experiences. The typical experience is that photo and certificate are signed the same way :)
