parents visitor visa multiple entry expiring june 2010

My parents 10 yr multiple entry visitor visa is expiring in june 2010. They are visiting US in april 2010.

1) Will they get the visa for 6 months or the date the 10 yr visa is expiring?
2)Say they got the visa until june at POE. Can they extend the stay?

A visa is just for entry. It is possible for them to receive a 6 month authorized stay although the length is at the option of the officer at the entry location.

It is advised not to extend the stay in order to improve their chance of receiving a new 10 year stamping upon their return home.
