hello everyone,i recently got married and i am applying my green card by myself.me and my wife are living with my motherinlaw cause we cannot afford a house now so i dont have the leasing documents, utility bills etc to prove the common residence eventhough we are living to gether. i am desperately waiting for the suggestion of how to show common residence.

You might need to get an affidavit from your mother-in-law stating that you are living in her house.

If you cannot afford to rent a house, can you meet the requirements for I-864 affidavit of support? You need to prove that you/your wife have enough income to support you and any other members of her family.

thanks for replying.yes we meet the requirements for i-864 affidavit of support.
how can i get the affidavit that we are living to gether...i mean what should i do

Open a seperate bank account for each of you. The mailing address will be the same location. A credit union has a small initial deposit. Consider it an investment in your future.

Both of you don't have a driver's license or state ID showing the same address?

A lot of relatively insignificant but normal bills, bank statements, etc. will demonstrate your common residence. I do think individual accounts in addition to your joint account is a good idea as often a joint account would go to the primary account holder's address. Individual's accounts would go to the individual's address; find a bank or CU that will open it based on your ITIN number if you do not have a SS number.

Also, obtain both of your credit reports. You can get a free one from each of the 3 agencies each year. Those will have address and joint financial information that you don't often think about.
