Hello,

I searched this forum before posting my question,
couldn't find the answer, so ...

I'm applying for my US Passport ( DS 11), in the application, one of the question is about parent's DOB - are we "required" to provide this information?
My parents don't know their DOB, can I leave it blank? - please adivce.

I checked my GC application (I485), I left it blank in that application

Thanks for your help

Regards

Actually, I supplied my parent's DOB (as far as I remember) for my GC. However, during the passport application, I did not remember my Mom's Bday - she has 2 - one actual, and one on papers - pretty common in India of olden days, and I was confused as to which one was which and what I reported on GC, so I just left it blank.

No questions asked.

I have a thread about this in the 'After US Citizenship' board. I knew the month and year for my Mom, but not the day, and despite a closet ful of legal documents being signed by her, no luck finding a date, just year. You'll be fine.

Use the one that's on their legal papers in cAse you were to sponsor them

Thank you all for your suggestions,

When I applied for my GC, they didn't have passports, so I left it blank in my GC application, now they do , I'm in dilemma now

is it is good to be consistent and leave it blank in my passport application OR
is it good to put their DOB in my application per "their" passports

Thanks in advance for your advice and for your time
please adivce

---------write the DOB as in "their" passports. so that you remember what you wrote on your US passport application. I have seen few cases where person did not write DOB of parents and got the US passports and I have also seen that Passport agency sends you letter to provide DOB of parents if you dont write the DOB of parents on US passport application.

Thanks in advance for your advice and for your time
please adivce

You shouldn't list it as blank now. Now that you know the dobs, write them. It's perfectly ok to list them now even if they weren't listed In your gc application.

Tell the truth and next time you will not worry from now on if they were blank or filled up.
