That was years ago, so whatever you experienced back then may not be applicable now. In recent years a number of states have become more strict. In addition, you were an AOS applicant which really has no expiration date, whereas the OP has a conditional GC with an explicit expiration date.Illinois does not match one's DL expiry date to one's status expiration date. I got my IL licence when I was an AOS applicant and it was valid for 4 years.

True, things have become stricter, but even now in IL, the criteria listed for DL qualification does not ask for any immigration/status related docs.

Right now I live in St Louis, MO and just 10 minutes from Illinois. Right, IL does not ask any immigration related documents. But to get IL DL, I have to submit my Missouri DL which has expiration date of green card. I wonder if I do so they issue standard 4 years DL or expiration date matching my Missouri DL?
If you do not live in IL, why are you looking into getting an IL driver's license?
