name check

Name check unit of the FBI doesn't receive calls from public anymore and the USCIS 800 number confirmed several times to me that they have no ability of knowing the status of the FBI name check.

I expected them to do this based on the number of people calling the same day.

I called the FBI for my fingerprints to see if they were received by them and forwarded back to USCIS. The number I called was 304-625-5590. I was able to speak with a live person. Hope that helps.

The question was about name check, not FP.

Next steps? FBI says that FP is cleared

I just called FBI and they confirmed to me that they received FP and returned to the requesting agency (USCIS) in the same day, FP was done

The FBI rep told me that given that there is no issue with FP, no additional name check is required.

It has been more than month since FP is complete, should i call USCIS 1-800 number to talk to IO ??? Any suggestions ?

Name check is done irrespective of the FP results. Both are seperate. There is a reason why they do name check also. Just to make sure the applicant's other possible names do not show any wrong doing in their database. If the FBI rep told you that there was no need for name check in your case, he is not providing you correct information. FP status can be known by calling the FBI but not the name check. Nobody, even the 2nd level IO from 800 number knows about it. If you receive IL, it means the FBI process is done. That is the only way we will know. I spend months calling the FBI, USCIS, speaking to 2nd level IO's and that's what I came to know. You just need to be patient.

An IO can see on their system if an applicant's name check was cleared. it's just a matter of talking to an IO who knows where to look to see that information, but it is there.
