can spouse cancel your 485 if you are a dependent?

My 485 was filed as a dependent on my husband's GC application. Can he cancel my application now? His company attorney represented me on 485 back in 2007 at the time of filing. My husband has given me a new G28 to sign to let his attorney represent my 485 application. Can he use this to cancel my application? i should add, he is capable of threatening to withdraw my app because he wants me to compromise my self respect in front of his family and i refuse to do so. so he is using all kinds of slimy tactics, within legal limits to make me give in to superiority of inlaws..typical Indian family melodrama. What are my rights under these circumstances? Help please...

---------------No, Form G28 is needed as new attorney is going to represent you. one cant revoke or I-485 with form G28.

--------------------------------I think you should believe him as Form G28 is not to cancel I-485. If you have problems with him and you don’t believe in him then why you want to stay with him? Just to get GC? GC will not give happiness if you or he does not have respect for each other.
Help please...

You posted your side of story from your point of view and I don’t know your husband side story or his point of view.
Let the director run both the stories by parallel cutting so that audience know story of both side and may be director needs to change the story or screenplay writer so that writer should give objective treatment to the flow of story.

Well, the name of the attorney is same, as in 2007 form.

Second, I am not looking for GC for happiness or anything. Right now it is a practicality issue, I need to be aware of the facts. I have asked him why he needs it, he has no reply.

Third, other side of the story will obviously be contradictory to mine. But he himself says "your parents should be proud of you that you stood up for yourself, BUT life is not fair..." Men can do a lot of nonsense under the influence of their family and perhaps regret it later, but usually it is too late by then.

Anyways, question was serious. I could file for a GC myself next year, I just don't want any surprises.

Form G28 is not for I-485 cancellation. Remember….. even a dead clock shows the right time twice a day.You can also search for the meaning of "paranoia".

well, g28 is authorizing the lawyer to represent you for your 485 case. if they can or cannot cancel my app on my behalf, i would like to find out, and i did.

Your husband can forge your sign, better call the attorney office, and find out the status. Do it quickly, you can take some action before it has gone too far.

Do you have a copy of your i485 receipt? or receipt #? you can check online or call the uscis customer service and enquire. Attorney office may give more accurate status on your case though.

485 is filed by the you the beneficiary, not by the sponsor husband. Therefore, only the beneficiary can cancel it. However if the sponsor withdraws affidavit of support, then your application will be denied.

-------------------nothing is going to happen as he can’t take the risk of going to jail and why he should forger her signature on form G28? G28 is just a form that is signed by you so that attorney can represent to before USCIS.
