Just got back home after our interview in sydney.Everything went to plan and we were approved so america here we come.Thank you to all the feedback on here as it has been most helpful. Good luck to everything.

Congratulations, please share your interview experience. Did they require an affidavit of support?

Good luck in America!

very easy, went straight in and waited to be called to counter, was asked for all the forms( education, police certificates, income report, birth certificate, passport etc) told then to pay fee and wait. We were expecting to be called into another room but 15 mins later called up to another counter, asked a few more questions and told that was it welcome to america

Congrats....if you papers are all there to show to the interviewer that makes things way easier! Good Luck in the USA!:)

No affidavit of support required just show that you have your own funds and/or assests in the form of a bank statement showing balance (they dont need transaction details), property or business owned, term deposits, letter of employment.

Make sure you have all the papers you require then you get an answer on the spot.
Make sure all the papers are in order (as per the list they send you).
Make sure you are well presented. Personal presentation goes a long way.
Make sure you have a US address with you at your interview even if you didnt put one on your DS230 as they need this in order to issue your visa.

Be calm and dont stress if its meant to be it will be (I was fretting all morning and couldnt eat a thing),

Congrats! Have a good trip to the US:)

For people who have no proof of funding, they will need proof of sponsor, or will face a harder time to pass the interview....

Congrats! I have an interview next month. Someone told me you get get quizzed on America (general knowledge, history, politics etc) in your interview. I don't think this is true but can someone confirm!? Thanks.

Congratz And wish you the best luck in the states :)

I don't think that's true, It's green-card not a test to be citizen or to get the nationality, from the previous experiences on forum they just ask related questions about you more than anything else,(you, your wife if you're married)

Just take it easy get all your papers ready and don't forget anything,...and GOOD LUCK!!! Hope to see you 1 month from now here so I can congratulate you on your visa :)

I never heard of any on get tested for the knowledge about the USA, that is indeed for citizenship.

You can/will be asked about the proof you have send in and she if your facts match with your answers and they might ask you additional questions....

For any honest person with proof, it shouldn't be hard...for people who lie or have false papers, that is a different story.:)

Hello LeenaNZ,

Congratulations for your interview! English, American History & Government are required only for Naturalization. It is called "Naturalization Test". There is not such thing for the Green Card interview.

Good luck in your interview!

I meet all the requirements.Like qualification, medical, police clearance, affadavit of support.I'm so close to getting a visa. Can anyone advise me what I need to say if they ask me anything about this. Will my visa be rejected.

Please let me know.

I'll be glad to hear from anyone.Dont scare me plse.I need positive answers...lol....

Quickly inform kcc about this. Write them email stating your case number, name and date of birth. Call the kcc after sending the email and they will direct you the steps to take. They make ask you to refill the 230 forms again

My friends birth yr was wrong. She didn't know until she called KCC for an update of her case and they asked her birth date and they said it wasn't correct...she worried so much and didn't have a clue how it was wrong. She gave them other possibilities, maybe she had put some of the digits in the wrong place. The only thing she had printed out was the page on which was stated that you should keep it for your records and on that isn't a b-date. The previous yrs she had printed the other paper out on which her b-day was always put in correct.

KCC did instruct her to send in papers with proof and she also emailed it to them...they still haven't changed the date but she knows now that her siblings birth yr was on her paper which shoudln't even make her eligible.

She has so much proof that it was a typo error and some one else has stated on this forum a similar mistake and was granted the GC.
I guess it will be difficult if your home country has no clear system of birth certificates but that isn't the case where she is from, so she doesn't worry and so shouldn't you.

It is different if you entered and stated you don't have kids and all of a sudden you have a 3 and 5 yr old...or you need to have a good explanation how you all of a sudden adopted 2 kids at the same time....you should be fine, don't worry, humans make errors...:)

Hi,

Thnx for the reply.I'm a bit nervous about sending an email to KCC.Just in case they start to create a problem.I'm thinkin of raising this issue during my interview.

The reason why this error occured is because when I submitted my online entry last year I had my High School Diploma in front of me and wrote my name as in the Diploma Certificate coz my Birth Certificate was not available at that time.In Fiji the Diploma Certificate is issued by the Min of Education a govt department.Only after I won then I noticed that they had put my middle name Jai as Jay otherwise all other names are correct. Not only that but by fathers surname name Datt was put as Dutt.I think its a typo error on part of the Ministry which I never picked up.

I've contacted them and they will issue me a new High School Diploma Certificate.

I was thinking if I could tell the consular officer this during the interview.Coz I've got proof of the error.

Will this be ok?I'm still very worried and am having sleepless nights.

Please give me your advises.
