Hello I'm about to sent in my i-751 and out of curiosity was wondering if anybody knows how far back the background check goes (biometrics-fingerprints and name) Do they check with your home country or just within the us? Thank you

Yes they do check everything about you but of course all related information on your application.

They contact the consulate in your country of citizenship, who in turn can contact the authorities there to find out if you have a criminal record.

If I'm not mistaking it depends on how long you've been in US (I don't remember whether it's 1, 3 or 5 last years). For US they basically just run your name thru the set of databases. For majority of people it come back in couple days. If they hit something then it takes longer as they start to do "manual" check.

Your question is pretty weird... As everyone stated above, the background can be extensive and if you have a skeleton at home, USCIS might produce them during your interview... Just be honest and shame the devil...

I don't know why, but this is what came to my mind first when I read your first post, instead of thinking you might have something to hide.
