I-130 petition filed for a foreign relative after he arrived in the U.S. on visitor's visa

I'm a U.S. citizen. My brother is on his temporary visitor's visa in the U.S. and plans to return before his visitor's visa expires.

After he arrived in the U.S., I filed I-130 petition for his immigration because I wanted to put him in the long-wait queue (that may take 12 or 20 years).

It's been a week since USCIS received my application (I've kept track of the delivery of my application package), but I have neither received a letter from USCIS nor do I see that my check is cleared.

I just wonder if there would be any issue with filing I-130 for a foreign relative while he is visiting temporarily in the U.S. Any advice?

One week? Be patient! It often takes twice as long as that.

Thanks to all for your input!

Another question: There are multiple entries on form I-130 and at least one entry on form G-325A about my foreign relative's home address abroad.

Interesting thing is that the official address of his home (that appears on his residence card) is "invalid". By "invalid", I mean if I send him a letter in that address, the postman will not be able to deliver it because it was not detailed enough.

I put in the detailed version of his address that I use in all of my correspondences with him on both form I-130 and form G-325A. However, he insists that I get the address "corrected" to the official version of his address, because that was the one he used in his visitor's visa application, and he is afraid that the different addresses may cause his I-130 application to be denied.

I don't believe that this would cause his application to be denied. However, he's anxious as hell. Shall I file an amendment with USCIS to get the address "corrected"? Then I fear that in case they send him mail, he may never get it (although it is the "official" address in his visitor visa application). Again, your advice will be appreciated on this matter!

He is over worrying.
