Should I let HR know now or later?

Hi,

I got my conditional GC based on marriage. In the same time I hold H-1b visa through working in the university(it is unlimited quote).

Should I let Human resource know now? They will cancel my H-1b visa once they know it?

I only used this H-1b visa for one year. I want to still hold it just in case if I get passively divorced, I still have something to save me. I want to tell human resource until I get my permanent GC two years later. Is it ok for me to do that?

Thanks!

You are no longer on H-1B since you are a permanent resident, even if conditional.

USCIS automatically cancels all non immigrant status that you hold, once your GC (even if it is conditional) is granted. You are no longer in H1 status. If your employment authorization status changes, you are supposed to inform HR and file an updated I-9.

Triple and nkm are right, but just one thing, how do you get passively divorced? as opposed to actively divorced? I hope your spouse is not looking at you using the D word less than two years after marriage ;)
