Affidavit of Support: How long?

If a person in the USA signs form I 134 Affidavit of Support, how long will that document be valid?

I mean the one signing the affidavit will be legally bound for how long? Will they be liable just forever or does the affidavit of support establish a certain time during which it is valid?

If the thing is valid indefinetely it would be a hard one to find someone to sign because it would be like mortgaging the rest of their lives so to say.

Anybody can shed some light on this?

Thanks
JC

Are you a lawyer or what is your proof to say something like this without anything else...people might believe you and later have tons of trouble because the thought you were right.

If you were right why isn't the USCIS not sued for having people sign such a form?

Any one can sue me and the bar than maybe produce the proof.

Like who would sue the USCIS, a welfare office?

It is not enforceable at all.
Wrong. It is "enforceable," although it is very rare that a sponsor is sued or alien is deported. In reality, I-134 is more of a formality, and sponsors are usually relatives or good friend. Still, in theory, if any alien receives a GC and then applies for TANF and receives this cash benefit, the benefit issuing office should request a repayment. If it doesn't get the money back, it can sue the sponsor. And if the matter is not settled within five years, the sponsored person will be deported. But again, it is extremely rare.

That's not rare, that's not existent. Rare means there is an example. Thus, I-864 has been created to address exactly this issue to be enforceable.
