HELP! No ID, lost Alien Card n Need to file I-90 and N-400

Well...I just tried to make an infopass appointment for my brother, Like I said before he is in Maui, Hawaii, but to go to the infopass appointment he needs to fly to Oahu, Hawaii, there goes the problem again, he can't fly without a picture ID to show to the airport security =[

I got this from the Infopass website...

NCSC at 1-800-375-5283 to see if we can answer your questions over the phone!

I'll call them in about 6 hours from now as its only 3 am in the morning in Hawaii.

Bus? Train ? if not, I suggest you call USCIS or make an infopass where you live and go explain the situation. Like Vorpal suggested it might be helpful to have him send his birth certificate to you so you can establish proof of being his sibling. That way you might get A# as well.

Maui is an Island of Hawaii,,,you can only go to the next Island by Fly or Boat, I guess he can try by boat if they don't ask for an ID. And I'll definitely call infopass to see if i can take his birth certificate myself and see if i can get his A #.

But even if he has his A#, doesn't he need some sort of ID still to file for I-90? or to file for N-400?

Hi, we only found out we weren't citizen this past march, and this is actually the only time we first saw our birth certificates, we never needed them..

How did you and yori brother do your I-9 for work elifibility?

ID is not necessary to file either. It will be necessary however for biometrics. I would file now and get the ID before biometrics appt.

There are so many ways to get back your ID. Go to your nearest police precinct to file a report. They will tell you how to replace it.

I don't know about my brothers, but for me, they never ask. When i first work during high school, my dad was with me for my paper work so not sure if he did it then or what, but for my other job, they only ask for my DL and SS card.

that's the problem, we have been trying for him to get some sort of ID for
months now, and we are afraid to make an appointment and not get an ID by then.

I told my brother last night, to call his bank, cuz don't bank make copy of your ID? will a photo copy of ID work to proof of your identity?

He has couple of idea to try now, hope it works.

He is here legally, we all came at the same time. My other bro and I already got our replacement Green Card and I'm about to take my Oath Ceremony for citizenship! YAY! I'm here living in Florida now, so I know who my congress and mayor so i have to look up his for Hawaii State.

He should be able to get an ID, just that maybe we just havent found the starting line yet where to start =[

A thought is maybe my bro can go to the immigration place again and hope it will be a different person who will help him the second time and maybe he/she will know better what my brother should do. Hoping that the first one was just not experience enough.

Is either one of your parents a U.S. citizen? If yes, since when?

Grandparents, Dads siblings and cousins, our cousins....All relatives are citizen but not my dad and his kids. My dad was a single parent who raise 4 kids, and my grandparents took care of us while dad was at work. My dad just never had the chance to do it and kept putting it off and forgotten. My dad was in USA alot longer than us, and petition his kids (us) after. My dad carries a greencard that has NO expiration date, and is actually in the process of filing his N400 as well. It is my youngest bro that has no ID and can't file anything till he gets one.

he has.......
- Birth certificate
- Social security # (lost the card)
- School Transcript
- Copy of passport from school (with his baby 1 yr old picture) and for some reason, i guess the school did not copy all the pages in his passport then cuz he can't find any Alien# on it.

How did you and your brother obtain a driver's license without a birth certificate or passport?

I find it hard to believe that in over 20 years of life none of you asked your parents where you were born.

non-citizen children who grow up here may not have clear concept about this citizenship/immigration issues. They just take it for granted that they are like
everyone else.

Hi everyone,

This is about my brother. We have been living in United States for over 20 yrs. and we never knew we were not citizen, tho we never did say we were because we never had too. We all found this out on Ending of March that were weren't. My father told us, that about over 15 yrs ago, there was a burglar in our home and our Alien Cards and Passport was stolen and was never found, and for whatever reason, they never get to replace the Alien card, and right away, I filed for whatever papers I need to file for my sake.
Unfortunately 1 of my brothers who is the youngest lost his wallet at a hotel one night and lost all his ID (driving permit, social securtiy card, school ID). Well now, he is trying to get his alien card replace but he needs some sort of ID with his picture in it. He has a copy of his old passport but he has a picture of it when he was 1 yrs old, he is now 22 yrs old. He has his birth certificate but that is not enough. He went to the immigration place but they told him he needs a picture id to prove it is him on the birth certificate and the copy of passport. We don't have anymore idea how are we going to get an ID for him. He does not know his alien card number and it does not show on the copy of his passport either. What else can we do to get him an ID or what can we do so the USCIS accept his application without a current ID?

I have to say that I also find a number of points in your story rather suspicious.

For example, how were you and your brother able to get driver's licenses in the first place, without having to show your green cards? Also, it is not believable that your brother would have carried his social security card in his wallet. Nobody, and I mean nobody, does that.

Regarding you yourself, how were you able to get an I-90 approved if, presumably, you did not have a photocopy of your old green card and did not know your A-number?

All kinds of weird thing can happen in this world. Remember even in USA
a significant portion of teh people truly believe the earth is flat and
better than that but still many beleive sun move around the earth.

Citizen or not, at least once in their first 20 years of life just about everybody living in a big country like the US has a basic curiosity to ask which city or state or country they were born in, if it wasn't directly told to them. Even if they have no concept of immigration.

Showing the green card or other evidence of immigration status is a recent trend, and I don't think all states have that rule yet. I didn't have to show any immigration-related paperwork to get my first US license in 1999 or to renew it about 5 years later. Given that they had no physical green card available, I'm just curious how they got the license without a passport or birth certificate ... what did they use as ID to get the license? Whatever else they used as ID may be helpful now.

Actually, I know of some people who do that. I've seen it in their wallet.
