I need help with green card lottery process

Can anyone help tell me what needs to be done if someone needs to do a Green Card lottery.
What is required, what are the steps and what documentation should be submitted and where. Does it cost any money?

Registration is free and the official website is there http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/
Normally, registration period starts October 30 and end first day of December or so.

1 Register free during the period mentioned by Tazmania at the offical web site.
2 Wait and hope
3 If you're lucky and win, you'll get a notification letter by mail between May/July the next year with a case number.
4 Submit forms that were mailed to you
5 Wait for a second notification letter once/if your case number becomes current
6 Have an interview and pay fees (for consular processing outside the USA, usually around $750)
7 Get approved if all goes well
8 Travel to USA within 6 months after approval.

Don't forget they need tickets to travel and proof of having worked 2 out of the last 5 years in approved jobs, or have a High School diploma or anything similar to 12 years of school with diploma. You need to either be sponsored by some one in the USA, have a job in the USA or have money to support your self for a period so you won't file for soc. security. No criminal background...
Kids above 21 can't travel with a greencard winner, only a spouse and younger kids...

If you can proof all this + what previous poster has stated you only have to win!....
