Guys,
I have a technical question.

I am getting married to a girl I have known for several years, in India next month. She is a USC.

We never had engagement ceremony, as my family is not here in US, so we simply decided to get married in India.

Now, I am going for H1B visa stamping in India and I have to fill DS 156 form. In that form there is a field, where I have to fill the following question

"Are Any of The Following Persons in The U.S., or Do They Have U.S. Legal
Permanent Residence or U.S. Citizenship?"
One of the option is "Fiance/Fiancee"

So should I say Yes or No.

Please help me out

You should say "yes": you intend to marry her, therefore she is your fiancee. A H-1B visa is a dual-intent visa (you can intend to immigrate), so it should not be a problem with the embassy.

Good luck!

When two people of opposite gender are willing and free to marry each other, that is an engagement :) These are the exact requirments for a K-1 visa, though you are not applying for it!

We never had engagement ceremony, as my family is not here in US, so we simply decided to get married in India.

Thanks a lot guys.
One more question, in the same form

"How Long Do You Intend To Stay in The U.S.?"
What do I put in there, since I am showing my potential immigrant intent, by mentioning a USC fiancee.. Do I put the duration as until the Visa expiry date or something else

I really appreciate your help
