Hi Guys,

I recently filed for my GC (married to a USC) and received my receipts yesterday. Can you please guide me with the next step and so on?

Appreciate your help.

You doing AOS? Your next step would be gathering as much as evidence as possible such as joint bank accounts, joint car loans, joint mortgage loans, joint credit cards...anything that has both of your names on it.

Yep- what Bestpal says. Gather as many documents as you can that prove you have a bonefide marriage.

You will also receive a notice soon for your biometrics. This will be at your local ASC (not uscis office), so that could mean that you have a fair distance to drive. My local uscis field office is literally 9 miles from my house, but the nearest ASC was in Charlotte so that meant a 3 hour round trip. So be prepared to possibly spend a whole day for this depending on the distance you need to travel. The biometrics visit though is relatively quick. I was in and out the front door within 15 mins. This is where they digitally take your photo and finger prints for your GC and EAD if youve applied for it.

After your biometrics, just continue to gather evidence of your bonefide marriage. If youve applied for EAD and AP, expect to receive them in 60-90 days. Then patiently wait for your interview letter. If you entered the US as a K visa holder, you may be lucky enough to get your GC without an interview (like lucky me :p ) if not, then expect an interview within 6-8 months.
