Green Card was physicaly cut in two pieces....

Hello,

I had an accident with my greencard..... A child sliced it with the scissors and now I have two....

Ok, jokes aside.....What are my chances to pass naturalization interview if I brought it to an interview and explained what happened? I can fix it by taping it with a scotch tape....

Any help would be greately appreciated....

Best,

The interviewer will deny your citizenship, because they are afraid that you will also leave your naturalization certificate and US passport lying around for the child to find them and cut them up too.

Reminds me of a colleague who had an RSA SecurID card - a credit card sized gizmo with a changing numeric display that is used for secure computer log-ons. Their four year old decided to add an entire extra layer of security by shredding the device.

I'm sure the IO will just have a good laugh at it. I wouldn't try using the GC for travel though.

Thank you all for the information provided.....I guess I am going to have to take my chance with it....

It is funny, though, that the responses are so different, a complete opposite actually....
It would be nice, however, to hear from someone who have had to go though the process with a damaged GC.

Thanks to all.....

Most of the forum members here are really paranoid about their GCs. Most do not even carry them on their person. So finding cases of people with damaged GCs will be like finding a needle in a haystack :)

It would be nice, however, to hear from someone who have had to go though the process with a damaged GC.

Mr-Jinks - Can you share your experience? I am also in the similar boat, I am applying for citizenship and my greencard just got damaged.
