I’ve filed I-130 for my wife based on my GC at VSC. It was transferred to local office and was approved and retained at local office (not sent to NVC). On I-130, I specified that my wife would go through AOS as she was already in US with valid non immigrant visa, she still is. Now I got my citizenship. I’ve sent a letter with a copy of naturalization certificate to local office, where the case was retained, asking to upgrade the application. The question is, can we file I-485 once the USCIS upgrades the application or do we have to wait until we receive the directions from NVC? Does the case even go to NVC (I don’t see why it would have to since we want to adjust the status and there is no question of visa availability)?

I believe that you can file I-485 with a copy of a notice of approval for I-130.
