Citizenship eligibility question

Please see if this scenario will work -

I stay in USA for 30 months/2.5 years after getting PR status.
After 2.5 years, I make regular overseas trip of 5.5 months each and return back to USA each time for few days.
I stay in USA for few days and fly overseas again and repeat this process till 4.5 years.
After 4.5 years, I stay in US till I get the citizenship.

In short - After 2.5 year US stay, I keep coming to US for few days, after every 5.5 months overseas trip till 4.5 years.

Will I be eligible to apply for citizenship and will such case be a concern for USCIS?

Thanks

Back and forth travel for trips just under 6 months is a path to denial as it shows your intent to abandon US continual residence.

I am employed by a US based company overseas and I have a re-entry permit. Despite all that, I get questioned everytime I travel to the USA about my long trips which they last about 4 to 5 months each time.

So imagine an LPR who doesn't have a valid reason that would justify the long trips overseas. I am sure customs will notice the pattern and they will question your trips.

I wouldn't go that path if I were you especially if I didn't have a valid reason for being away from home (USA) for so long.

Somebody else is almost about to lose their green card after doing something similar.

Just because one trip of 5.5 months is OK that doesn't mean a string of 4 or 5 trips of 5.5 months is also OK.

It means that even though I satisfied their 'Residence and Physical Presence' requirement but still it is an issue for them.

I am more concerned with uscis then the customs as I can stay more in usa if the custom people show any of their concerns to me.

Is there any minimum safe number of days one should be physically present in usa in the 5 year period?

You must have a minimum of 30 months of physical presence when you apply as well 5 years of continuous residence as a LPR. However, continuous residence is also evaluated on your intent, based of pattern of travel. For example, if you have a back and forth travel pattern over a long period , this can be indicative of your intent to abandon continuous residence.
