Hello

I dont have a birth certificate, neither does my wife. But it looks like birth certificate is really important. Is there a way around??

the birth certificate is very important, if you do not it, when you going to interview , the consular officer could refuse your dv visa.

And if you show them a birth certificate issued after the date you sent your e-application you could also run into problems.

Is it true??

Is this true?

I have just managed to obtain original birth certificate after getting selected for DV2009.

What sort of problems one could face? Do we have any evidences?

Appreciate comments.

That was discussed in several other threads.

That can make your case suspicious because they can come to the conclusion that you maybe sent multiple applications with different DOB.

No. I did the same and had no problems whatsoever. I guess it may depend on your country and how birth certificates are issued.

I really don't see why this could create problems. If someone could issue a fake birth certificate with fake DOB, then they could forge the date of issue as well :S

Hya, tyo Tazmania bhanne mache le jaile jepaye tyai wrong kura bhancha, tara BC chai chahincha, ani Nepal ko case ma -- wada/vdc karyalaya bata chahincha.

Don't think this is true.

I had to get my birth cert amended the week before my interview.
It was never even mentioned on the day.

There is a way around. You need a motivated written denial from a competent authority of the country you were born in (for instance, archives were destroyed during WWII). Also, you need a secondary evidence of birth there (like medical records).

That depends on the consulate, you citizenship, your place of permanent residency e t.c.

For instance, if you are a Swiss citizen and applying from Switzerland, it is unlikely you have submitted multiple entries.
But if you live in Bangladesh and are a Bangladeshi, it looks much more likely
