I am having a hard time finding a quality photo studio in NYC. So far, I have taken photos in three places – and the photo quality is below any standard. I don’t know how they can provide such a bad service – or they might not know for better.

Anyone that can recommended place where I can get a good quality photos? Preferably place where they use digital camera as they produce the most sharpest and vivid color pictures.

I had my photos taken at a local photo studio in Brooklyn. The quality was excellent. My suggestion is to find a mom-and-pop shop that uses professional equipment, not a 5MP hand-held camera.

Any super special requirements for the photo? I looked through the CIS page for N400 and there is a link to a pdf that is not as detailed.

Is it possible to provide a new set of photos at the time of interview if the earlier photos were not to one's liking ?

Vorpal, that’s what I am talking about – I don’t want to go to anymore to amateurs with 5MP hand cameras or polaroids – as they produce really low quality photos. But it is really hard to find an professional.

Can you please give me address of that photo studio? Hope it is not that far from Queens/Manhattan as I don't have a car.

This is where I went:

They are very professional and have high-end equipment. The photographer used a top of the line Nikon camera to take my photos. You can get there by taking the Brooklyn-bound D train to 20th Ave. Truthfully, you should be able to find an equally professional photo studio closer to you, as they are not exactly rare. However, if you don't mind the train ride, it's definitely the place to go.

Absolutely. In fact, it's highly recommended that you bring an additional set of photos to the interview, in case the ones you submitted with your application were lost.

What's the point of going to so much trouble and expense? It's not like you're going to be hanging them on your living room wall. Back in the days of the old-style ADIT photos is was a nightmare to find someone that could take them properly, which is probably why USCIS changed to the standard passport style and requirements. There are any number of places everywhere that can take acceptable photos in less than five minutes for less than $10. Some people even take the photos themselves.

The OP was unhappy with the quality of the photos he got earlier and asked me where I took mine. I agree with you 100%, there's no point in going the extra mile for photos. However, this kind of thing matters to some people.

Everything in life is the matter of choice. I prefer a good quality over the bad. Why would I be satisfied with blurry washed out photo when I now how sharp and vivid they can be?

Than you Vorpal. I appreciate it very much. No I wasn’t able to find any professional studio so far in Queens.

I got mine at Kinkos/FedEx and the quality was fine. (Counter person let me look at and approve the photo before printing.)
