US citizenship and security clearance

I have question for people with a US citizenship and a citizenship of another country (for e.g UK).

Does having a citizenship of another country has any impact on getting a security clearance in US.

Do we have to surrender the citizenship of other countires.

If anybody has some experience please share.

It is not looked at kindly... If you hold another country's passport, you would be lucky to get clearance. If you look at some cases here at http://www.dod.mil/dodgc/doha/industrial/ , you will see that "foreign influence" is a big no-no. If I remember correctly, when I was reading some cases a while back, I read about a case when the person was dual citizen (of Israel or UK?, I cannot remember exactly) and the person was denied. So it would seem that even if you hold a passport from a friendly country (NATO, Australia, etc), your loyalty to this country is suspect.

Thank you. The link was an eye opener.

I appreciate the responses. Come to think of it , it does make common sense that dual citizenship SHOULD pose security concerns :-).

I couldn't agree with you more. If I was a security officer, unless your loyalty was to US and to US only, you don't deserve a clearance. Nobody should be trusted with US's secrets unless you have allegiance to US only.
