Hello everyone there,
I really need some help!

I have been waiting for my interview notice for months. And Yesterday I got a notice from USCIS says that I did not appear on the interview schedule on 09/29/08.
I never recieved the letter noticing me to come to the interview. I think the mail is lost!

Since I missed the interview what shoud I do?
Should I just go to the USCIS office directly and tell them my situation?

could anyone please tell me what to do?

Thank you very much!

Request a info pass appt. they would either take your interview itself at that time or scheduled an appt. for you.

Thank abact!

That is really helpful!

I will try to request a info pass appt. Though I am not sure what it is right now, but I will do a research on it.

I really hope they can do the interview at the time of info pass appt.

Thank for the reply!

Do not waste another day

Susanleu,

Forget about making an infopass appointment. You can do that on the side just to secure a date for yourself, but if I were you, since the USCIS office is closed today (Columbus day), I would go to your local DO first thing tomorrow morning and explain this situation to the supervisor there. Please do not delay as the local office could send your file back for not showing up. By the time you visit your local DO, it may be too late for you, as you may not get the infopass date right away. Good luck.

this might not be helpful now but i used to call the 800# talk to an IO and ask if they see any interview on their pc for me so i can look out for mail since my mail man has annoyed me many times with mail..i wanted to make sure i knew it was coming so i dont miss it.

The notice you have received gives you 30 days to explain that why you did not appear for the interview and you have a good reason.Aim all the blame to post office and you should be okay.if 30 days passes and you do not reply your file will send back.
I would call 800 number and go or send certified letter asking for another appointment.
Good luck

At this point, I wouldn't suggest calling up USCIS or writing them letters. You will simply waste more time. Just go to your local DO as soon as possible in person to sort this matter out.

It is also wise to register on the USCIS website and create a portfolio of all your pending applications using the notice ID number. Every time something happens to your pending application you will receive an email notification the same day they mail you the notice. No worries for lost mail and no delays. Good Luck.

This is not the case with N-400. Not only is the status grossly inaccurate and never updated, many N-400 applications never appear online to begin with. For example, I've been a citizen for over a month, and my application still appears online as "Case received and pending". The status hasn't been updated since 12/6/07, the day my receipt notice was issued. Ask anyone on this forum and they'll confirm that the online status is useless.

Yes, it's a good idea to register to the USCIS website and create your login id and pswd. You can get updates and most recent updates or changes that USCIS makes from their end, but since Susanleu you have already missed the interview notice, I don't know how useful this online thing would be. I would still create one just to be on the safe side, but definitely follow up with the local DO at your earliest convenience. Like I said before, the last thing we want is your file to go back to the service for no show.

I-485b denied

I received a letter from Immigartion stating m I-485 has been denied because I didn't appear for an interview. I never received the Appointment Notice sheduling my interview. I've contacted the USCIS Customer Service Center for many times and was told me my case was pending. Even after receiving the letter with decision of denial, I called them again, and they told I shouldn't worry because at this time they were processing cases sent in december of 2007 and I filled my petion in march of 2008, so I should wait more 3 or 4 months. Last week I contacted the USCIS Customer Service Center and I said what was happening and I made a claim. Yesterday the Immigration sent me a letter asking me to make a affidavit telling why I didn't appear on interview so they will reschedule another interview. Today I went to Immigration and they said that letter I received to reschedule another interview won't work and I have to fill up a form I-290B and pay $585.
I didn't undertsand that. Was not my fault and I have prove they made a mistake because I recorded all my conversations on the phone. Who can I believe?
Well, after saying I recorded my conversation and I received 2 differents lettes with differents decisions, they accepted to review my case and I didn't have to pay. But I don't believe about what they say.
