Reschedule US Citizenship (N-400) interview

What should be the format of letter to reschedule US Citizenship (N-400) interview? Do I need to have a explanation of the reason why I cannot attend the current interview or can I just simply request with no reason (explanation).

Do I need to send the original I-797 (interview letter) with the reschedule request letter or can I send a copy of the I-797?

The reason I'm trying to reschedule the interview as I'm trying to get my earlier case vacated, which might take about 2-4 months to process in the local county court.

If someone has a sample letter, it might be helpful.

Thanks.

Please send the letter with delivery confirmation and make sure you keep copies of everything you send to USCIS (for your records).

Does it need a specific reason

Do I need to give a specific reason for request to reschedule or simply say that I cannot come to interview due to a family emergency without going into specifics.

Thanks.

Just a regular dated letter stating that you wish to reschedule interview ..nothing fancy is required.

Just a simple request that you wish to reschedule. You don't have to go into details why you want to reschedule.

Sent the request to reschedule the US citizenship interview by USPS certified & registered mail with proof of delivery (signature) to be returned to me.

Thanks.

Good - seems like they are going to reschedule you and have accepted your request. However, if you don't hear back from them in the next 60 days with your new date, you will need to follow up with them. Worst case scenario is that your requests sits on someone's desk gathering dust.

Good luck with court.
