Question on travel to home country without spouse

All - I haven't been to my home country for more than 10 years and I miss my parents greatly. I recently got a conditional PR card and would like to go back to visit them. However, we're not that rich and hardly have any savings. My wife works as retail store cashier and I work as restaurant server. The tickets costs almost 1300-1400 dollars per person. My wife is ok with it so I'm thinking of traveling alone. I know that ideally if we traveled together - it will add to our case for the I-751 application but we can't afford it. If we both are out of work, then it'll just be a mess financially for the future. Would this have any negative impact if USCIS were to find out that I traveled alone?

Thanks .. pls help.

Why would it have a negative impact? you can travel anywhere you want alone, you are a PR, conditional or not!

The IOs may harass you a little bit, but no, there is no real risk for as long as it is a short trip. I have traveled both with and without my wife and it was fine in both cases.

Thank you all for the reply. The only reason I asked is that I'm very cautious regarding anything to do with USCIS. I don't want to give them any excuse to delay or deny me removal of my conditions when the time comes. As it is, we will have very less documentation in terms of what USCIS requires for I-751 application to prove that it is a bonafide marriage. There is no way we will be able to afford to buy a house at least in near term. We already had cars when we got married so there is no joint title. No health insurance for both of us either. All we have is a joint lease and joint bank accounts. I work part-time in construction to supplement my income from the restaurant but that's it. Hopefully, we can make some progress financially in two-three years time. It sucks being poor :(

You think bonafide married couples never travel alone? :)
Relax, you should be ok.

Prae - Now - this is silly. why would they harass him? he should have no issues as long as the trip outside of the USA is less than 6 months. Please stop preying on other people's insecurities. I see a pattern in your madness though, so does not matter.

hari_topi - Now that sounds Indian :) it does not matter to me unlike PraetorianXI who only loves to help chavistas :).. here is my suggestion about your situation with documentation. There is a way to add each other to your car title's. All you need to do is fill out some forms on-line at the DMV site and send in original title (make copies of the originals first) and you should receive the amended titles within 2 months. (at least in NY State). So, there are always solutions to the documentation situation. Marriage Photos, vacation photos, staycation photos :) - photos that you can take even while having dinner at home. Good luck to you.

Based on my own experience.

First time traveling without my wife as an LPR... The BCP officer asked more questions about my trip and took longer to let me in... and the custom officer decided to ask me some more questions (including if I was bringing euros??).

Second time traveling with my wife as LPR... No questions asked.

Ilanand39, Triple Citizen and all - Thanks .. yes I am Indian

PraetorianXI - Thanks as well. What kind of questions did the Immigration officer at the port of entry ask you? Was there questions on why you were traveling alone? What kind of answers did you give?
