6 months rule

Hello Guys,

Well I need you assistance again. I already had a succesful interview. Planning to go to US at the end of August just to visit my brother and then back to London. I am alittle concerned and confused as I heard from a couple of people that there is 6 months rule, which means that you have to spend 6 months in US as soon as you enter it for the first time???
At the moment I just would like to go visit California (brother), probably get my CA driving licence and then after 6-16 months to immigrate.. (I am aware that I am not allowed tospend more then a year outside US).
Thanks for your advise guys:-)

You do not. However, it is not advisable to be absent from US form more than 180 days, what is less than 6 months

6months?? is it a rule?? I do not know because there is a family which won a green card and they did not want to migrate to the US so they usually make an entry once a year.

If they do not want to immigrate, they will loose their GCs.
This is not a strict rule, but sooner or later the GC will be abandoned
