Petitioner Birth Certificate

Hi Everyone,

My green card interview is on July 17th 2008. I applied for green through my wife so she is the Petitioner. I have gathered all the documents. Everything is there except my wife's birth certificate. It seems that her birth certificate was lost when she moved from Holland to USA. Is this going to be a problem during the interview?

For her citizenship she has the certificate of naturalization.

Thanks,

Where to apply?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply!

She is from Holland. Where should she apply?

Any ideas?

Assuming she was born in Holland: the municipality (town/gemeente) she was born in (where her birth was registered). They can issue an international version of the BC (translated in a number of languages).

Only know this b/c I just ordered an international BC (from Holland no less) today (not kidding either) for my own upcoming GC app. :)

PS. Most towns, even the backwards hole I was born in, allow you to do this online and can send it to you US address

Hi woodenshoe101,

What website did you used to order the certificate?

My wife was born in Amsterdam!

Thanks,

Well, every city has their own website, but the one to go to for Amsterdam is right here
I assume your wife can read Dutch so she'll be able to follow the instructions. If not they have an English document on there as well. Make sure to get a "meertalig" (also known as "internationaal") version. The certificate is in Dutch but has translations in 10 different languages on the back.
