I got my IL in the mail last week and am going for an interview tomorrow June 4th. I finished my FP but never bothered to do the name check assuming that everything is fine. Should I find out (online or some where if my name check as cleared or the fact that i have an IL means everything is in good sted?

not sure. would appreciate some guidance.

thanks

In less than 24 hrs time, you will find out for yourself if your NC is still pending or if it's cleared. Just relax and concentrate on your interview for tomorrow. Make sure you have everything you need, I mean all the paperwork that is required. Go over your N-400 application one more time and revise your history (96) questions. Hopefully you will be approved tomorrow. Nowadays you don't get IL unless your NC is cleared. Keep us posted.
Good luck.

OK-Boy thank you for putting so much assurity on my previous statement. Appreciate it. Trust me, not that many people like me here on the forum ;)

Thanks Vorpal

Hey man, you're cool in my book! I appreciate the answers to my WOM-related questions.:)

Vorpal,

Please let me know what you decide after June 14th as it will be 2 months since your last infopass apptt. I'm here to help and I'll do what I can. Your wait should come to an end soon. Can't wait to see you become a USC.
Good luck.

I'm planning on scheduling an InfoPass for Friday, June 20. I'll be able to find out if I've been scheduled for an interview, since NYC ILs will have gone out by then, and I'll also be able to get the name and badge number of the IO in charge of InfoPass. The latter one I'll include in my WOM as an exhibit, along with a copy of the InfoPass appointment letter.

If I don't get a favorable reply, then I'll contact my local court and request a pro se package on that day. I want to have everything set up and ready to go by the time my application turns 12 months old.

Vorpal,

I think you are on the right track. You are keeping records for every move that you make which is a very good and organized way to do and handle things. On the other note, have you ever tried contacting your local senator or is it too late now and your next move will be to file a law suit.

I contacted both Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton less than 2 weeks ago. I received a response from Schumer's office yesterday, and the information was identical to that in the response to my congressman's inquiry..."The application was submitted on September 4, 2007, all background checks have been completed, and it was placed in a computer queue for interview scheduling. Once a date become available, an interview will be scheduled and the applicant will be notified by mail".

I also contacted Dick Cheney and Laura Bush, but I doubt that their responses will be any different. It's all ammo for WOM, really.:)

Vorpal,

How do you get the name and "badge number" of the IO at Info Pass?
Do you ask them for the full name and bage number? Do they feel offended you ask for it or readily give it to you?

Haha, that's actually a great question. I'm considering being completely honest with the IO and explaining that I'm planning on filing a WOM and need to provide sufficient proof that I did everything in my power to resolve the situation.

Wow! As an employee of the organization that you are planning to WOM against, cant they say No - we are not obligated or required to give you the full name, badge# on your request, etc?

Have you been successful in saying the WOM thingy and getting the badge# before?

A government employee (a police officer, for instance) is obligated to provide his/her name and shield number upon request. If the IO refuses to give me his/her name and shield no., then I will just state that in my complaint. I'm positive that the InfoPass appointment notice will be sufficient on its own, and the USCIS will just look worse in judge's eyes.

I haven't had to ask an IO for their information, so I haven't tried yet.

What's up Atlanta Brother ? Who doesn't like you ? You want us to kick whoever's whatever ???

Hey, you are :D on my book too.

When I went for my interview the officer introduced himself by his name, I also read his name again when I was led to his office and then on the way out he gave me his name again and said I could call back if I received an early interview date. I had asked for some 3 month delay in the oath date due to an upcoming overseas vacation. I saw the same officer at my oath ceremony but without the name badge. But I did say hello Mr. XX and he was kind of surprised. I knew he would not recognize me because these people see so many applicants each for such a short time. It is a big deal for us but not for them.

Also the assumption nowadays (since May 2006) is that an applicant will not have an interview for N-400 and I-485 cases unless all background checks (including name check) have been completed. From my experience on this board 9/10 applicants fall into this bucket, with the odd 1 applicant getting an interview letter despite pending name/background check.
