i just wonder how standard is this procedure?

Correct me if I am wrong -
after FP done
Service Center initiates, waits and receives FBI check results
once clear - places cases in queue,
then when DO's have spots are available in next 1-2 month, SC schedules Interview,
sends ILs
sends case to DO,
and that's when case disappear from online if it was there,

or some cases filed after July 07, would just never appear online at all but we can't know anything about that.

If you got your IL recently, and it was online before - could you please reply in this thread if case disappear around day IL received, and if yes - approximately how many days before or after??

Thanks!

That's not always the case. Some people have already naturalized, but their cases are still appearing online.

Our cases are still showing that USCIS will process the case and we will get further info soon . this message exists from the day we sent ourcases.

But we got our IL's 1 month back. Still case is pending online.

fyi

my case status never changed, but my interview is next week, so I think the online status is not updated.

more interestingly, my sister naturalised in 2006. just for fun, she entered her case number and it still said pending as of last week!(May 2008)

Also the name check and IBIS checks are conducted after the application has been received, not after the FP results are in. This is why some folks get their IL a week or so after their FPs because their name check has cleared less than 3 weeks (which FBI claims is the majority of all cases).

This used to happen with great regularity, pre-surge, that case status online would disappear around the time that the file was sent to the DO / IL letter was generated. Now this happens haphazardly, but it does happen.

A question I've never seen addressed on this forum: why does this happen, when it happens? If it were an automatic process, it should happen in all cases (it doesn't). If it's not automatic, I don't understand why an IO at the Service Center would go to the extra trouble of deleting the case status online when the interview is scheduled.

Incidentally, it's an academic point for me personally, since my case status has never appeared online.

yep, I was naturalized on 5/22/08 and my case still says pending.

I think USCIS sent a memo or posted a notice regarding the online status being incorrect.

Perhaps a more diligent/anal-retentive IO would delete the online status?

I received my IL over the weekend. As of the date of receipt of the interview letter, my case status was still online.

This is a little older info but our ILs came in the mail a few days after the "case retr failure" message appeared in the status check. I was tracking the SJ timeline for people with PDs close to ours, and started checking the status around the time others started getting ILs.

That web status is inconclusive and has different results for lots of people, hence not reliable. It was a daily routine for me to check it once daily but it can't be depended on for much more than entertainment for most applicants ;-)

USCIS status online is meaningless and unreliable. I wish USCIS bought FedEx tracking system which is best and useful (FedEx system can track where the package or mail goes).

Hi FelizLa,
I go tmy IL but mycase NEVER even appeared (not even once) from day one... I have no complain though as long as the process keeps going forward

my online status disappeared today

Hi all,

My case disappeared online today and I got this message:eek:

Validation Error(s)
You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:
• Case Status Retrieval Failed
• The status for this Receipt Number is incomplete at this time in this automated system and can not be displayed. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact the National Customer Service Center

I tried various times to see if I've been punching the wrong numbers but the message is the same:mad:

In most cases, the IL is issued by the service center and the file is forwarded to the DO. It's likely that once the IL is issued, the case is deleted from the service center database, since it becomes the responsibility of the DO.
