Hi
My wife and I will be visiting India and will be back to USA on H1(mine) and H4(my wife's) visas. When I first came to US in H1 I brought all original documents, and now I am not sure which all the documents I need to bring since this is a re-entry. This question could be an elementary level question for many of you reading this, but for me this is first time going out of USA after I entered in H1. Hence your responses will be highly appreciated.

Do I need to show the following document in original or photocopy. [If possible please specify if I need to take original or photocopy]
  • H1 approval notice and related papers
  • My company offer letter that I received 2 years back

Please let me know if I need to take any other documents. Thanks in advance for reading and responding!

Technically, visa stamp is good enough, but I carried h1 approval notice at POE when I was on H1.

I have heard from a few that a letter from the employer stating that you are still employed with that company may be required.

If you have moved to another employer and are using the unexpired visa stamp from the previous employer, you should ask your new employer for a letter stating that you are employed and your services are still needed for the company.

Does anyone have a sample letter from the employer stating the same that could be used for re-entry?

nothing complicated. Just ask company to write that you were employed, paid XXX amount, position.
