TSC rep says my NC is cleared

Just got off the phone with a nicer sounding TSC rep (glad I held the line for one hour and 10 minutes...it was worth the wait).

n e ways, she said my NC was cleared but couldn't tell me when it was cleared.

I am trying not to get carried away...at least until I hear it one more time from TSC and an Infopass appointment. I will update you guys if I get that triple confirmation.

FYI: My NC has been pending since 6/8/2004.

Nice to hear the news.

Had you taken any steps to expedite the name check process.

my NC pending since Oct 2003.

congrats duggils.
guys does anybody knows what happens behind this name check step. is it just checking against FBI database or is it against international database?. why is this so complicated? does this involve agents physically go and check (am i stupid) with local authorities in your home country?.I thought most of these systems talk to each other and you should have the data in a few mins(if not in a few hours)

Thanks guys. But I don't want to get too excited about it at this time. Not until I get at least a couple of follow-up confirmations. You never know with the USCIS...I might get a different answer the next time around. They have been known to be very inconsistent with this kind of information.

I have taken all the steps you could possibly imagine.

n e ways, I will duly update this forum with any additional info I might get.

Yes, you are right dugglis1!

I also got my name check clearance, unless I see my Green Card, I am not happy.

Thank you!

duggils1 and sVirgo,

1. Did you get any letter from those whom you wrote for expediating the Name check.

2. How long did it take for the name check to clear since the time you took steps.

3. Please let me know the people you tried to contact. In case if I have missed somebody, I can write to.

Go ahead to have infopass appointment to double check NC clearance or ask your Senator or Congressman to check for you.
I called one time before and I was told told over the phone that my NC was cleared, and I was very excited at that time. And then my congressman contacted FBI and USCIS with the response of NC pending. Sometimes the message over the phone is not that accurate, but it may be right for you this time.

Yes, you are right xyr888!

I have taken an infopass appointment for 12/07, so let me see what they tell!

Hi Zooni!

I raised an inquiry during April 2007.

I went to infopass during August 2007.

I wrote to First Lady during early September. I have not received any reply back.

I hope, I answered.

xyr888,
Its not like I am over the moon or anything. I am actually skeptical and won't believe it until I receive my card.
BTW - what are your case details if I may ask?

Congressman, Senator, and FL. The reason I did not go Infopass because I do not think the information I got over the phone was accurate. The response from congressman or others proved my guess. Yours may be cleared since yours started since June, 2004, it has been 3.5 years. I did this when mine was 2 years back in 2006.

what number and option you useed to call TSC?

Update 1

OK guys. As promised, here's an update.

Went to Infopass this afternoon. Sure enough, this guy at Infopass contradicted what the TSC told me yesterday on the phone. But there was a subtle difference in tude this time around. Instead of the usual "Name Check still pending, please check back after 5 years", he said it is the "Security Check still pending so continue to file for your work dcoument".

When I asked him what the difference is between Name Check and Security Check, this worthless piece of $hit scumbag had no clue and mumbled something and then asked me if was filed at a service center. When I answered Y, he said it is some thing internal. This guy is supposed to be a local immigration officer but did not have a clue about the process. The level of incompetence is just mind boggling.

To make this useless trip worthwhile, me & spouse went and had some yummy Nepalese food for lunch. You can guess who the butt of our jokes at lunch was ;-)

Read my next post for update 2....

I found the infopass appointments not very useful. Do not worry about them. Keep getting updates by calling or by getting the local congressman or senator to get the status on you case. I found that to be more reliable and also I got the status updates in writing from these offices.

Update 2

Got home and decided to call the TSC to find out what their spin would be.

After several tries and a surprisingly short wait of only 22 minutes (you guys ever noticed how the estimated wait time at TSC is ALWAYS between 20 and 30 minutes. It cracks me up how they try to fool us into thinking that the TSC has some sort of automated call volume monitoring system. Nice try. Ha..ha..ha!) I got thru to a nicer sounding lady again. (That's 2 days in a row I got nice reps. I need to go buy a lottery ticket :p ). Anyway, here goes the dialogue-

CSR: What's your receipt number?
Me: <receipt number>
CSR: Current mailing address?
Me: <Mailing address>
CSR: Last 4 of SSN (tis a new one)
Me: <last 4 of SSN>
CSR: What can I help you with today?
Me: I called this number y'day about my NC and today I went to Infopass. I received contradictory info and I was wondering if you could clarify?
CSR: What did you hear from us y'day?
Me: That my NC was cleared...
CSR: And what did they tell you today at Infopass?
Me: That my security check is still pending...
CSR: Let me check...(puts me on hold)
CSR: (returns after a long wait of 5 min) Your name check is clear
Me: OK. Thank you. Could you tell me what else might be holding up my case?
CSR: Let me see...your FP are clear...what is your category?
Me: Employment based. EB3
CSR: Do you know your PD?
Me: Yes. <PD>
CSR: (Goes back into hibernation; I actually got nervous that I accidentally shutdown my friendly neighborhood CSR)
CSR: (reboots after what seemed an eternity) Sir, I am going to send a message to the unit with your case details. Hopefully you will get a decision soon.
Me: One final question...do you know if my case has been assigned to an officer.
CSR: No it is still sitting in the "Work Area" (that dark, dusty room with a strong smell of bat poop...you get it right!)
Me: Could you possibly tell me when my NC was cleared?
CSR: (couldn't hear what she said)
Me: So, you don't have that information?
CSR: (getting a little testy) I do have that information, sir. But I couldn't tell you. It's internal (I guess she'd have to kill me if she told me)
Me: (trying to push the limits a bit) But you are sure that my NC was cleared.
CSR: (real testy and annoyed) Sir, you asked me check something and I did...
Me: (interrupting her hastily) No maam, didn't want to offend you or anything. Just wanted to double check because of the conflicting info I got the (useless) Infopass center. Sorry.
CSR: I will send the message to the unit...
Me: Thank you very much for your time.

So folks, that was it. Let the spin begin. As far as where I stand on this whole thing, I will have to see it to believe it. My next step would be to invoke a congressional inquiry thru my local rep as well as thru the Ombudsman's office. I already had a SR opened yesterday. That's my plan of action.

Any comments/suggestions are welcome.

I just found this thread, my name check is cleared on 10/11/07. However, I am still waiting for the final approval. Done my interview already, so i don't know why it is still pending
