Hi guys,

I desperately need English speaking reliable (asylum and protection) lawyer. The one I contacted only cares about money.

Please advice.

where do you live ? try Legal Aid if they have an immigration lawyer they might help or check with International INstiture they usually have attorneys who might work with you

I live in Nashville, TN but I doubt I can find reliable and honest lawyer in the area. I'm ready to travel to other states if I find professional attorney experienced with asylum and protection application.
Most importantly, lawyer must care about the client more than the money he will receive. (I will pay for the service of course)

Please advice.

I would recommend Michael DiRaimondo in NY and Greg Siskind (www.visalaw.com) in Memphis (which should be close to you). I have worked with both and both are extremely good and honest folks.

thanks a lot. appreciate your help :)
was your asylum approved? how much do they charge and what is included in the fee?

any other suggestions?
Honestly, I am very dissapointed with my attorney right now. He seemed to be a professional claiming 40 years of experience in immigration law, but after the second appointment I changed my mind. He only cares to work on as many cases as possible and cannot remember a single thing about his clients in the next visit. So I had to introduce him to my case all over again, and he keeps postponing filing an application. It is both costly and taking my time.

Guys, if you seek an attorney in Nashville area, never go to Ford and Associates. H. Fred Ford is not honest man, after receiving the full fee, he will forget about you and your case.

DiRaimondo seems very honest. I did not work with him for my asylum case (which was approved) but he won asylum for one of my friends and for the other (even though she got denied) he filed an employment petition for her and she got a green card that way. He will tell you straight from the beginning whether or not he believe you have a chance in your case and whether or not he will take you on. He seems to take cases that he thinks are "winable". Siskind is generally a well-respected attorney in the practice. I do not know his record with asylum cases, but in all other matters that I have been in touch with him he has been more than helpful.

You must visit www.aila.org. This is the American Immigration Lawyers Association. They have vastly respected lawyers in every state. You should complain about your present attorney to AILA.

Hope this helps.

Ironically, he was recommended by AILA. I guess lawyers get referral if they have a paid membership. So, AILA will refer any lawyer willing to pay them for recommendation IMHO.

by the way, I discharged my attorney today. He was very rude and mean at first, but later he became nice and kind.. told me it is a big mistake, i cannot find better lawyer than him, my case is very successful.. blah blah blah ... whatever.. i don't care anyore.

Good Asylum Lawyer

Friend of mine used David Berger from www.bernsteinandberger.com -law firm from Miami.
David Berger got his case approved and was the best according to his words.
Fees were reasonable, half upfront and half in case if approved.
He talked about couple of thousands, but it depends whether expert testimony is needed, travel and hotel is needed (if he needs to come to you for an interview), etc.
In asylum cases a lot depends on the location of the asulym office and immigration court.
Florida office and courts were very friendly according to my friend.
Good luck.
