Can a RFE I-485 delay EAD?

My lawyer received an RFE for initial evidence requesting my birth certificate. It is my understanding from reading the forums here that this not only means that the processing of both my I485 and EAD has stopped in the interim but also that for the EAD that 90 day clock will start all over again once they have received my RFE response.

Is this still true - am I essentially starting all over again because of these RFE?
