Consequences of Political Asylum

Dear friends,
I am extremely happy to find out you all in this portal.I hope to get clear of some of my problems.
One question is, I am an Indian passport holder.If I apply US Asylum and denied and had to go home to India, what will be the consequences when I get back to India?And worse my passport already expire.That means if my passport expire and I apply asylum and dont win and had to go back home, will the Indian Immigration officials detain me and put me in jail for applying US Asylum?

If your asylum application get denied and you have to go back to india, just go to indian consulate, tell them this is an emergency and get temporary travelling document. They will not know about your asylum application unless you tell them or show them any asylum related documents. I had to renew my passport while my asylum application was in process.
They refused to renew passport again (I think after four years) when they saw the code (code for asylum approved) on my work permite.
 
I want to ensure you that US government will never disclose any information from your asylum application. Don't worry.

Yes. It is either an oversight on the part of a lower level person or as a result of the top brass making a decision to disclose. The law gives the Attorney General and the DHS Secretary wide discretion to disclose the contents of an asylum claim.
